Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of deliberately extending the ongoing war, warning that Moscow is amassing forces to launch an attack on Ukraine’s Sumy region.
In a post on X, Zelenskyy shared updates from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, emphasizing Ukraine’s continued defense in the Donetsk region and other frontlines. He praised Ukrainian troops for their resilience and effectiveness in repelling Russian advances, noting that the situation in the Pokrovsk direction has been stabilized.
Addressing military operations in Russia’s Kursk region, he stated that Ukrainian forces are successfully executing their tasks and have compelled Moscow to redeploy troops from other fronts. He dismissed claims of Ukrainian forces being encircled, assuring that they continue to hold back Russian and North Korean troops.
Zelenskyy stressed that intelligence reports indicate Russia is preparing an offensive on Sumy, signaling Moscow’s continued disregard for diplomatic resolutions. He urged international partners to take note of Putin’s intentions and pledged to keep allies informed on frontline developments.
He also highlighted Ukraine’s advancements in missile technology, revealing that the long-range Neptune missile had been successfully tested and deployed in combat, achieving a strike range of 1,000 kilometers. He expressed gratitude to Ukrainian developers, manufacturers, and military personnel for their contributions to the country’s defense.
Additionally, Zelenskyy acknowledged new military aid packages from international partners, including artillery supplies, and thanked Ukraine’s allies for their continued support.
His statement comes just a day after he expressed optimism about ending the war, following Ukraine’s acceptance of a U.S.-proposed 30-day interim ceasefire.
