Woman dies after visiting boyfriend in Abuja
A woman identified as Esther reportedly died on Wednesday after visiting her boyfriend in the Dei-Dei area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A resident, Dauda, said Esther left home that afternoon, telling her sister she was going to a bank in Dei-Dei. She did not return. Later that night, her elder brother received a call from a man claiming to be her boyfriend, who said Esther became ill after eating food he provided. She was reportedly taken to Kubwa General Hospital, where she died during treatment.
“Since then, her boyfriend’s phone has been switched off, as has Esther’s. He did not provide his name or address,” Dauda said.
Police confirm investigation
When contacted on Friday, FCT Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh confirmed that authorities are investigating the incident.
“We are aware of the incident and we are investigating,” Adeh said.
No further details on the cause of Esther’s death or the whereabouts of the boyfriend have been released.
