Wike Pulls Out of PDP Reconciliation Agreements
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has officially withdrawn from all reconciliation agreements within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing a series of betrayals and deliberate violations by top party figures.
Wike, who is also a former governor of Rivers State and a key member of the G5 faction, made this announcement in a statement issued on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

Wike Describes PDP’s Post-Election Decline
Wike blamed the PDP’s internal crisis on events following the 2023 general elections, which he said marked the beginning of a steep decline in trust and honesty among the party’s stakeholders.
“Since after the 2023 General Election, the PDP has been wantonly swinging from one part of a slippery precipice to another,” he stated.
Efforts to rebuild unity have been thwarted by what he described as a “virus of dishonesty and treachery” infecting the party’s core leadership.

G5 Governors’ Agreement Violated
Wike singled out Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Peter Mba of Enugu State for allegedly sabotaging reconciliation efforts. He said the G5 governors had earlier resolved to move forward during a private meeting in Lagos.
This meeting was followed by a broader reconciliation session hosted by Senator Bukola Saraki in Abuja, attended by Governors Bala Mohammed, Umaru Fintiri, and Makinde.
Key resolutions from that meeting included:
Recognition of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary per Supreme Court judgment
Withdrawal of all legal actions concerning Rivers State
Agreement to avoid any move towards declaring a state of emergency in Rivers
Alleged Betrayals and Breach of Agreements
Wike Accuses Makinde of South-East Conspiracy
Wike alleged that shortly after the Abuja resolutions, Makinde conspired with Peter Mba to push for the adoption of Ude Okoye as National Secretary during a South-East caucus meeting, threatening withdrawal from the PDP if their demands weren’t met.
He also accused the PDP leadership of sidelining Anyanwu by attempting to install the Deputy National Secretary as acting National Secretary. This, he said, led to an aborted PDP zonal elective congress in Jos on May 24, 2025, due to INEC’s non-attendance.
“This is undeniably distasteful, provocative and annoying, to say the least,” Wike declared.
Wike Reflects on Loyalty and Betrayal in PDP
Wike expressed disappointment over the actions of individuals he claimed to have helped elevate politically, lamenting their alleged betrayal.
“It is on record that none of these persons have done anything close to what I have done to sustain this party.”
He added that despite his contributions to their electoral victories, he had never made personal demands on them.
Wike Declares End to Reconciliation Efforts
Declaring a clear break, Wike said he had lost all faith in the camaraderie and trust that once existed in the PDP.
“I have now firmly decided to pull out of all agreements hitherto reached. I have decided to fight on until justice is attained.”
As of the time of this report, the PDP has not released an official statement in response to Wike’s declaration. Governors Makinde and Mba have also not responded publicly.
