Wike Says Tinubu’s Critics Will “Develop High Blood Pressure” Over Good Governance
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly declared that President Bola Tinubu’s critics will continue to suffer “high blood pressure” as a result of the administration’s successful rollout of infrastructural projects across Abuja.
Speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road 1 (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way), Wike praised Tinubu’s commitment to development and vowed to amplify efforts to provoke further discomfort among the President’s opponents.
A Televised Moment of Realization
“I Didn’t Know People Could Be in Pain,” Wike Says
Wike recounted how he came to understand the frustration of Tinubu’s critics while watching television. According to him, what started as a spiritually-driven moment of flipping through channels revealed a deep-seated resentment among some Nigerians toward the President’s accomplishments.
“Sometimes, I don’t know, spiritually I was touched. I was just touched to turn it [TV] on, and I was watching, and I didn’t realise that people could be in pain, but now I know that such people are in pain,” Wike said.
Frustration for Critics, Sweetness for Supporters
Projects as Political Statements
Wike didn’t hold back in his remarks, stressing that he would now make it a point to use development projects as a source of joy for supporters and pain for detractors.
“I now must make sure I continue to give them high blood pressure. As they continue to be in pain, it’ll be sweetening us, and that’s now my job,” he said with a smile.
The minister added that while critics will “shout, fight, and kill themselves,” he and fellow supporters will continue to laugh, move freely, and celebrate progress under Tinubu’s leadership.
Tinubu Commended for Supporting “Revolution”
More Projects Expected Across FCT
Wike thanked President Tinubu for backing what he described as a “revolution of development” in Abuja. The minister promised that additional infrastructure projects would be unveiled in the coming weeks, reinforcing the administration’s emphasis on tangible governance.
“Mr President, thank you for being part of this revolution,” Wike said.
The remarks come amid growing political tensions and debates around governance performance as Tinubu marks his second year in office.
