Wike-Backed PDP Faction Announces Emergency BoT and NEC Meetings

Emergency Meetings Scheduled for November 18

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced emergency meetings of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC).

According to a notice issued by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and shared on X by the media aide to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, both meetings will hold on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The BoT meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., while the NEC meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m.
The notice emphasized that attendance is critical, as “crucial matters will be discussed and addressed.”

Backdrop: PDP Expels Wike, Fayose, Anyanwu, Others

The emergency meeting comes just days after a major political shake-up within the PDP. At the party’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, several high-profile members—including Nyesom Wike, Samuel Anyanwu, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu, and others—were expelled over alleged anti-party activities.

The motion for their expulsion was moved by Bode George, former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), and seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman Samaila Buga.

Delegates Approve Expulsion in Overwhelming Voice Vote

Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, put the motion to a voice vote. Delegates overwhelmingly endorsed the move, signaling the party’s renewed determination to handle internal dissent and enforce discipline within its ranks.
