Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the immediate promotion of over 2,000 workers of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) following the conclusion of their promotion examinations.

The promotions followed examinations conducted between Tuesday, November 25 and Saturday, November 29, 2025, marking one of the largest single promotion exercises within the FCT civil service in recent years.

Promotions Cut Across 165 Cadres

Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed the approval on Wednesday, stating that the promoted officers cut across 165 cadres within the FCDA and FCTA.

Ezeh described the development as a reflection of the FCT Minister’s commitment to staff welfare, morale, and career progression, assuring civil servants that promotion exercises would now be conducted as and when due.

Digital Exams to Continue

The commission chairman urged civil servants to begin early preparation for the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises, stressing that only diligent and hardworking staff would advance.

He also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to conducting future promotion examinations using the Computer-Based Test (CBT) system, noting that the digital platform was approved by the FCT Minister to improve transparency and efficiency in the promotion process.

According to Ezeh, the sustained use of CBT will further strengthen reforms within the FCT civil service and deepen the adoption of technology in personnel management.
