UBA Tops 2025 Brand Strength Rankings in Nigeria
United Bank for Africa (UBA) has been named the strongest Nigerian brand in the 2025 edition of the Brand Finance Nigeria 25 report, achieving a significant leap from 9th place in 2024 to the top spot this year.
The bank earned a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 92.4 out of 100, along with a rare AAA+ rating — the highest distinction awarded by independent brand valuation consultancy, Brand Finance.
Key Drivers of UBA’s Brand Success
UBA’s impressive brand strength ranking was attributed to its high performance across several key metrics, including:
Brand familiarity
Customer preference
Consumer consideration
Price acceptance
These indicators reflect UBA’s strong consumer trust, brand loyalty, and a compelling value proposition that has outpaced notable African competitors such as South Africa’s Capitec and Kenya’s Equity Bank.
“This year’s ranking is no coincidence; it is the result of deliberate planning, strategic investments, and an unwavering focus on customer satisfaction,” said Alero Ladipo, UBA Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication.
UBA Joins Global Banking Elite
UBA’s recognition extends beyond Nigeria. The bank was also ranked the 13th strongest banking brand globally out of the top 500 banking brands assessed by Brand Finance in 2025.
This milestone reflects the bank’s rising international influence and highlights the global relevance of Nigerian financial institutions.
Brand Value Sees Significant Growth
While UBA holds the sixth position in overall brand value among Nigerian companies, its brand value surged by 58%, reaching ₦341 billion.
This growth reinforces the bank’s leadership in customer engagement, market perception, and brand equity, even ahead of several institutions with higher nominal brand value.
Banking Sector Dominates Nigeria’s Brand Landscape
The 2025 Brand Finance report also signals a broader trend: banks now dominate Nigeria’s top brands, accounting for 59% of the total brand value in the Top 25 rankings.

“We remain steadfast in our mission to adapt to the evolving landscape, ensuring we consistently deliver exceptional value and keep our customers delighted.”
This customer-first approach, combined with consistent investment in digital banking and financial inclusion, has helped UBA maintain relevance and trust in a dynamic market.
