The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of six individuals and multiple injuries following a violent clash between herders and farmers in Farin Dutse, Nasarawa Local Council.
According to police reports, officers deployed to the area recovered six bodies, identified as Simeon Madaki, Ayawu Senior, Sunday Wa’azu, Vincent Sunday, Taimako Senior, and Filibus Jatau Mai’anguwa. Several houses, shops, motorcycles, and a car were also vandalized during the violence.
In an official statement, the police spokesperson, SP Nansel Ranham, revealed that three injured victims—Samaniya Wa’azu, Vincent Ezekiel, and Johnson Maikasuwa—were rescued and taken to a medical facility for treatment.
To restore order, security reinforcements, including personnel from the Mobile Police 69 PMF Toto, alongside other operatives and military forces, have been deployed and are currently patrolling the area.
However, during the intervention, a police patrol vehicle was vandalized by an angry mob, which later set fire to a nearby Ruga settlement linked to a suspect named Sani. This resulted in the tragic death of a woman, Azumi Allah Gaba, and her unborn child.
Authorities confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the communal crisis, while calm has now been restored in the area.
