The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of two members of a Nollywood production crew who were found inside a parked vehicle at a film location in the Lekki area of Lagos.
The deceased were identified as Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh, a Nollywood lighting director and chief executive officer of a production lighting company, and his colleague, Ayodeji Walter Odediran.
They were discovered unresponsive on Saturday, February 7, within the premises of Evercare Hospital, reportedly being used as a filming location.
Police sources said the two men had arrived early at the location to install lighting equipment for the production. After completing their assignment, they allegedly entered a Nissan vehicle parked within the premises to rest while awaiting further filming activities.
According to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity, a crew member reportedly brought breakfast to them around 11 a.m., and both men appeared fine at the time, with the vehicle’s air conditioner running.
However, as filming continued, repeated phone calls to them reportedly went unanswered. It was after production wrapped up around 8 p.m. that they were found lifeless inside the vehicle.
Preliminary observations reportedly showed signs of distress, including foaming at the mouth, while one of the victims allegedly had bloodstains around the nose and lips.
The matter was reported at the Maroko Police Station, and closed-circuit television footage from the premises is being reviewed. The bodies have been deposited at a morgue pending further forensic examination.
The production was said to be directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for detailed investigation.
She added that autopsy and toxicology tests are being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
