Trump Orders Investigation Into Alleged Cover-Up of Biden’s Cognitive Decline
U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered a formal investigation into what Republicans are calling a “conspiracy” to hide former President Joe Biden’s declining cognitive health during his tenure in the White House. The dramatic move, made official through a presidential memorandum on Wednesday, accuses Biden’s aides of abusing executive authority and misleading the American public.
Allegations of Autopen Abuse and Concealment
The investigation directive alleges that Biden’s aides used an autopen device a machine that replicates a signature to sign executive documents on his behalf, while concealing his mental health status from the public.
“This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history,” the document states.
“The American public was purposefully shielded from discovering who wielded executive power, all while Biden’s signature was deployed across thousands of documents to effect radical policy shifts.”
The probe will examine the use of the autopen on presidential documents, who directed its use, and whether this undermined the constitutional role of the Commander-in-Chief.
Biden Responds: ‘Ridiculous and False’
Former President Joe Biden has strongly denied the accusations, calling them a political distraction and an attempt to delegitimize his presidency.
“Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency,” Biden said in a statement.
“Any suggestion that I didn’t is ridiculous and false.”
Biden slammed the investigation as a partisan attack by Trump and Congressional Republicans, aimed at diverting attention from what he called “disastrous legislation” they are pushing through Congress.
Growing Concerns Within the Democratic Party
The investigation comes amid increasing discontent within the Democratic Party over how Biden’s health was handled during his time in office. His widely criticized debate performance against Trump during last year’s presidential campaign, marked by verbal stumbles and moments of confusion sparked fresh debate about his ability to lead.
While some party leaders initially defended Biden, support crumbled in the weeks following the debate. He eventually withdrew from the race, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, who later lost to Trump in the general election.

Adding to the controversy, former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced her departure from the Democratic Party, denouncing the internal bickering as a “betrayal” of Biden.
Fueling the scandal further is a new book by journalists Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, which alleges that Biden’s inner circle actively shielded him from the public due to his declining condition including reportedly forgetting close allies like actor and longtime party supporter George Clooney.

Conservative voices have also pointed to Biden’s recent aggressive prostate cancer diagnosis, speculating without evidence that his inner circle had long known about his deteriorating health but kept it hidden.
