Trump stated that the United States had coordinated airstrikes with Nigeria against ISIS militants, describing the operations as targeting groups responsible for attacks on Christian communities. He framed the strikes as part of a broader effort to hold extremists accountable for violence against civilians.
During the event, Trump also acknowledged Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, calling her a “very respected woman” and highlighting her leadership role as a Christian pastor.
The remarks come amid international attention on Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges, including attacks targeting Christians and other vulnerable populations. Trump emphasized that protecting religious communities remains a priority for the United States and reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation to combat extremist threats.
