Akpabio speaks as Plateau governor joins APC
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has described the Bola Tinubu–led administration as the most Christian-friendly government since Nigeria’s creation, saying the President has demonstrated fairness to all faiths through his actions.
Akpabio made the statement on Tuesday in Jos during a reception rally organised to formally receive Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Let me place on record that the President Bola Tinubu–led administration is the most Christian-friendly administration since the creation of Nigeria. He has shown this through his actions and deeds. He treats both Christians and Muslims equally,” Akpabio said.
Assurance on security and federal support
The Senate President congratulated Mutfwang on what he described as a strategic political decision that has brought Plateau State closer to the centre of national politics.
He assured that insecurity in the state would be addressed, pledging federal and legislative support for the state government.
“We will support your government in all sectors in order to better the lives of your people. We will not leave you alone,” Akpabio said.
Akpabio also said the National Assembly would back the President through the approval of funds aimed at addressing insecurity and humanitarian challenges across the country.
North Central now fully in APC, Akpabio says
The Senate President said Mutfwang’s defection completed the inclusion of all states in the North Central geopolitical zone into the APC, describing the development as significant for the ruling party.
“Today’s action has finally brought all the states in the North Central geo-political zone into the party. This is significant,” he said.
He added that the Federal Government would continue to protect Nigerians regardless of religious belief, stressing that government support would be extended to address displacement and insecurity nationwide.
Mutfwang: Plateau people ready for new political journey
In his remarks, Governor Mutfwang thanked party leaders who facilitated the rally, describing the event as historic.
“Today’s movement is a landmark. It is a statement that the people of Plateau have made, and they are here in their thousands to publicly declare their support for the APC and to return President Tinubu back to office in 2027,” he said.
The governor said the decision marked the beginning of a new journey towards unity, peace, and development, aligned with the expectations of past generations for a united Plateau State and Nigeria.
