Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has claimed that some of President Bola Tinubu’s frontline supporters are openly backing Peter Obi as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate.
According to Adeyanju, Tinubu’s prominent allies, including Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo and former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, have thrown their weight behind Obi’s candidacy.
Adeyanju’s remarks come in reaction to Fayose’s recent statement that Obi is the “only life” in ADC. Fayose said:
“Peter Obi is the only life in ADC. Other lives there are semi-existing. Atiku and Tambuwal destroyed PDP.”
Sharing his thoughts on X, Adeyanju questioned why some political actors appear afraid of a Northern presidential candidate, suggesting that support for Obi is growing across regional lines.
The development highlights shifting alliances in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, with key players increasingly aligning based on strategic calculations rather than party loyalty.
