The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy and Communications, Daniel Bwala, has fired back at Senator Ali Ndume (Borno South) following a verbal jab from the lawmaker during a live television interview.
Ndume, while speaking on Channels Television on Friday, referred to Bwala as a “maga dog,” a term that sparked immediate backlash online and drew a strong reaction from the presidential aide.
In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Bwala accused Senator Ndume of double standards, claiming the lawmaker secretly aligns with opposition forces at night while presenting himself as a loyal member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during the day.
“Frustration is aging you daily,” Bwala wrote, noting that Ndume’s behavior was likely why he was excluded from the recent Southern Borno excellence awards recognizing notable sons and daughters of the region.
Bwala also alleged that Ndume’s associates issue threats when the senator is criticised, stating:
“You criticise leaders freely, but anytime you are called out, your soldiers, or boys, issue death threats to people.”
He further claimed that despite the senator’s public attacks, Ndume once personally visited him to express gratitude during his political struggles.
“Anytime my name is mentioned you can’t help but insult me, but you would not tell the world how you drove to my office to thank me immensely for supporting you when Senator Saraki suspended you and was dealing with you,” he wrote.
Bwala concluded by reminding Ndume of his visits to his law office while lobbying for support in his bid to become Senate President.
The clash between the two political figures has reignited discussions around internal divisions within the APC and the use of harsh rhetoric in Nigeria’s political discourses.
