Tinubu’s Adviser Mocks Opposition Coalition Over 2027 Agenda
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, has condemned the newly formed opposition coalition, warning Nigerians not to be misled by its intentions.
The coalition, unveiled on Wednesday, features major political figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, ex-Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai. They collectively adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their political vehicle to challenge Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.
“Desperados Hungry for Power” Onanuga Alleges
In a post shared via his verified X handle on Thursday, Onanuga criticized the coalition, describing its members as political desperados whose only unifying agenda is opposition to Tinubu.
“A political party with no clear agenda or ideology whose members are united only by their hatred for President Tinubu cannot be good for our country. It will only set us back by decades,” he wrote.
Onanuga claimed that the group comprises former APC members who had either left or were expelled due to irreconcilable differences.

Abubakar Malami, ex-Attorney General
Hadi Sirika, former Minister of Aviation
Rauf Aregbesola, former Osun State Governor
Kashim Imam
John Odigie Oyegun, former APC National Chairman
According to Onanuga, these individuals are now chasing political relevance after falling out of favor within the ruling party.
“They Can’t Survive Political Wilderness” Presidency Warns
Onanuga accused the coalition leaders of lacking national interest, saying:
“These politicians are desperados, hungry for power, not for the benefit of Nigerians but for themselves. They want power at all costs because they cannot endure another four years in the political wilderness.”
He predicted the coalition would disintegrate before 2027 due to internal contradictions and conflicting personal ambitions.
