Tinubu Nominates Dr Bernard Doro as Minister from Plateau State
President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the name of Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State to the Senate for screening and confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The President’s letter was read on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Senate Begins Screening Process
After reading the letter, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole, directing it to report back to the Senate as soon as possible. This marks the beginning of the official vetting process for Doro’s ministerial appointment.
Doro Replaces Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda
Dr Bernard Doro’s nomination follows the elevation of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who previously held the position of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, to become the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
Yilwatda’s transition to party leadership created a ministerial vacancy for Plateau State, which Doro has now been nominated to fill.
The Senate is expected to conduct Doro’s screening in the coming days. Once confirmed, he will join Tinubu’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) as part of the President’s ongoing effort to strengthen governance and representation across states.
Further details about Doro’s background and political trajectory are expected to emerge as the screening process unfolds.
