President Bola Tinubu has nominated Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf as the new chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), pending Senate confirmation.
The nomination was announced in a State House press release issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. It is to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Professor Abdullahi Usman, who stepped down after about 14 months in office.
President Tinubu has formally written to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, seeking expeditious consideration and approval of the nomination in line with Section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2006.
Ambassador Yusuf is a seasoned career diplomat who served as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Türkiye from 2021 to 2024.
