Tinubu Praises Nigeria’s Leading Industrialists
President Bola Tinubu has commended some of Nigeria’s most influential business figures, describing them as “wise men” for their contributions to national development. He made this statement on Thursday during the commissioning of the access road to the Lekki Deep Sea Port in Lagos.
“I landed here with four wise men: Jim Ovia of Zenith Bank, who is acknowledged worldwide; Femi Otedola, my baby brother; Samad Rabiu of BUA. And I believe, the wisest of them all, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who is so daring in thinking and doing and believing in his own country,” Tinubu stated.
Also present at the event were Aliko Dangote, Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, and Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru, among other dignitaries.
In a symbolic gesture, Dangote named the main road leading to the refinery after President Tinubu.
President Lauds Dangote Refinery and Deep Sea Port Progress
During the visit, Tinubu also described the Dangote Refinery as a “massive investment” and a “point of reference” for Nigeria’s industrial growth. In a statement released by the State House, the president thanked Aliko Dangote for his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s development.
He also expressed pride in the success of the Lekki Deep Sea Port project, which he initiated during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State.
“Users now save significant amounts of money using this port because they no longer need to trans-ship their goods,” Tinubu noted.
He praised Dangote Industries Limited and the subcontractor, Hitech Construction Company Limited, for the “quality” of the access road built under the Tax Credit Road Programme.
Dangote Reaffirms Private Sector Support
Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, thanked Tinubu for laying the groundwork for the Lekki Deep Sea Port project and reaffirmed the private sector’s support for expanding Nigeria’s infrastructure.
“We appreciate your vision and leadership. The private sector remains committed to partnering with the government for progress,” Dangote said.
