Popular singer and songwriter Teni has shared a video detailing her recent struggle with illness, revealing that she was bedridden for two weeks due to malaria.
Fondly known as the “Sugar Mummy of Lagos,” the hitmaker disclosed that the illness left her weak and without an appetite. Despite her condition, she maintained her signature humor, joking about her appearance and even making light-hearted remarks about her father’s burial site.
In the video, Teni recounted her ordeal, calling out the mosquitoes in Ikate and appealing for action against them. She humorously referenced her song Uyo Meyo, emphasizing that she had truly experienced hardship.
“They should turn off the AC at my father’s burial ground because it seemed like he wanted to take a nap,” she quipped. “I told him, ‘Wake up, your daughter is dying!’ I was weak for two weeks, couldn’t eat. If you see my neck now, I look like a turkey!”
Despite her health challenges, the Billionaire crooner pushed through and performed in Ondo, explaining that she couldn’t afford to refund the money she had already received.
“I was sick, but I still had to perform because who will feed me? Once money enters my Sugar Mummy account, it doesn’t come back out!” she joked.
Teni captioned the video with a reflective note: “Money cannot buy health, only God can.”
