In February 2025, Shakira was rushed to the Delgado Auna clinic with an abdominal condition just hours before a major concert in Lima, part of her “Las mujeres ya no lloran” world tour. The 48-year-old Grammy-winning superstar was forced to cancel the show, though she returned to perform two days later.
However, shortly after her hospital visit, confidential details from her medical report surfaced on social media, sparking widespread outrage from fans and prompting an official probe into the breach.
The Investigation and Fine
Following an investigation by Peruvian health authorities, the Delgado Auna clinic was found to have violated medical privacy laws and personal data regulations. Authorities described the data leak as a “serious breach of ethical and legal standards,” resulting in a penalty of approximately $190,000.
The clinic had earlier acknowledged the breach, promising internal disciplinary measures and a review of its data protection protocols.
