Sean Kingston Jailed for $1 Million Fraud
American-Jamaican singer Sean Kingston, real name Kisean Paul Anderson, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for his role in a fraud scheme worth over $1 million.
The 35-year-old artist was convicted in March 2025 alongside his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, who received a five-year prison sentence last month. Both were found guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud.

Exploiting Celebrity Status
According to prosecutors, Kingston leveraged his celebrity image to obtain high-value luxury goods without making payments. The fraudulent acquisitions included:
A bulletproof Cadillac Escalade
Several luxury watches
A 19-foot LED television
Court documents revealed Kingston presented fake wire transfer receipts to sellers and lured them with promises of social media promotions.
A Pattern of Deception
Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Anton described Kingston as a “thief and a conman”, noting that he had exploited his fame for years to deceive victims.
Defense Arguments Rejected
Kingston’s attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, argued that the singer lacked financial discipline but had begun repaying victims. However, U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz dismissed the plea for leniency and ordered Kingston’s immediate remand after Friday’s sentencing in South Florida.
A request for delayed surrender due to health concerns was also rejected.
Arrest and Background
Kingston and his mother were arrested in May 2024 after a SWAT raid on his rented mansion in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
