Saintfiet Praises Morocco’s AFCON 2025 Organisation
Head coach of the Mali national team, Tom Saintfiet, has revealed that he has encountered only two minor challenges at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
According to the Belgian tactician, the only issues faced by his team so far are temperature fluctuations and rainfall, conditions he described as beyond human control.
Speaking in an interview published by CAFOnline, Saintfiet expressed strong admiration for Morocco’s hosting of the continent’s biggest football tournament, highlighting the country’s proven ability to manage major sporting events.
“It’s been a fantastic AFCON so far. I’ve always loved Morocco for its ability to organize major sporting events,” Saintfiet said.
‘Temperature and Rain Are the Only Problems’
The 52-year-old coach stressed that, aside from weather-related challenges, everything about the tournament has met or exceeded expectations.
“The only small problem is the temperature and the rain, but that is beyond our control,” he noted.
Morocco has experienced varying weather conditions during the tournament, with some match venues affected by rainfall and cooler evening temperatures—factors that teams have had to adjust to tactically and physically.
‘Beautiful Country, World-Class Facilities’
Saintfiet was particularly impressed by Morocco’s infrastructure, accommodation, and football facilities, describing them as among the best seen at an AFCON tournament.
“It is a beautiful country with good hotels, magnificent stadiums and excellent pitches for training,” he said.
His comments reinforce Morocco’s growing reputation as one of Africa’s top destinations for international football events, following successful hosting of major CAF and FIFA competitions in recent years.
Positive Atmosphere and Fan Experience
Beyond logistics and facilities, the Mali coach also praised the atmosphere surrounding AFCON 2025, pointing to the enthusiasm of local supporters.
“I would say it is a very good AFCON, well organized, with a great atmosphere. The supporters are very positive in the streets,” Saintfiet added.

The lively fan presence across host cities has contributed to what many teams and officials have described as one of the most engaging AFCON tournaments in recent history.
Morocco’s handling of AFCON 2025 is being closely watched as African football continues to push for global competitiveness and improved hosting standards. Positive feedback from coaches like Saintfiet strengthens the country’s case as a reliable destination for future continental and global tournaments.
