Rotimi Amaechi Claims Peter Obi Won Rivers State in 2023 Presidential Election

Rotimi Amaechi Alleges Peter Obi’s Victory in Rivers State

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has stirred fresh political debate by claiming that Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi, actually won the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State.

Amaechi made this claim on Saturday during a live X Space discussion, stating:

“I can agree with you to some extent that Obi won Rivers State. But I don’t know how the results were changed.”

INEC’s Official Results vs. Amaechi’s Claim

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the official results of the February 2023 election in Rivers State were as follows:

All Progressives Congress (APC): 231,591 votes

Labour Party (LP): 175,071 votes

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP): 88,468 votes

INEC declared President Bola Tinubu of the APC as the overall winner of the presidential election.

However, Amaechi’s statement challenges the credibility of those results, adding another layer to the ongoing controversy surrounding the polls.

Political Reactions and Election Controversy

The 2023 presidential election in Rivers State has remained a hot topic due to widespread allegations of irregularities and result manipulation.

Amaechi’s recent remarks are expected to spark renewed discussions among political stakeholders and supporters of both the Labour Party and the All Progressives Congress.
