Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has invited the 27 pro-Wike lawmakers, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, for a pivotal meeting aimed at resolving the ongoing political crisis in the state.
The invitation, conveyed in a letter signed by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, was issued on Sunday in Port Harcourt.
Scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Government House, Port Harcourt, the meeting will address key issues, including securing a suitable venue for Assembly sittings, settling outstanding remuneration and allowances for lawmakers, and the presentation of the 2025 budget.
This move follows Governor Fubara’s receipt of the Certified True Copy of the Supreme Court judgment, a key development in the political standoff between the governor and lawmakers loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The letter emphasized the governor’s commitment to finding a resolution in the best interest of the state, inviting the Speaker and all Assembly members to engage in discussions on the way forward.
