Former presidential media aide Reno Omokri has called on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to take a lie detector test following her accusations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a video posted on social media, Omokri recalled that Akpoti-Uduaghan had made similar allegations against him in 2021.
He stated, “On October 12, 2021, Natasha Akpoti had a dispute with me and, afterward, went on social media to accuse me of sexual harassment. She claimed that during a state banquet at Aso Rock hosted by President Goodluck Jonathan for Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on May 6, 2014, I harassed her.”
However, Omokri refuted her claims, explaining that at the time, he was on an official assignment in the United States, having been sent by President Jonathan to manage Nigeria’s image following the Chibok girls’ abduction.
“I left Nigeria in April 2014 and didn’t return until the end of May. So, obviously, Natasha Akpoti lied,” he asserted.
To support his claim, Omokri said he publicly shared his passport stamps and flight details, proving he was abroad when the alleged incident took place. Following the release of this evidence, he said Akpoti-Uduaghan deleted her accusations and a video where she allegedly insulted him, his wife, and their newborn daughter.
Omokri further revealed that a senior Christian clergyman, along with Akpoti-Uduaghan’s now-husband, Emmanuel Oritshejolomi Uduaghan, intervened and urged him to settle the matter outside of court.
“We resolved it, and I was paid a significant amount in damages,” he claimed.
Drawing a parallel to her latest allegations against Akpabio, Omokri expressed skepticism.
“Four years later, after a dispute with the Senate President, she went on Arise TV and accused him of sexual harassment. It feels like déjà vu,” he said.
While he did not confirm the truth of her claims against Akpabio, Omokri insisted that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s past actions cast doubt on her credibility.
“The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior,” he stated.
Omokri urged that before Nigerians judge Akpabio, Akpoti-Uduaghan should be required to take a lie detector test, accompanied by a supportive senator and a neutral senator.
He concluded, “Until she takes a lie detector test, the presumption is that she is acting based on her past behavior.”
