Nigerian singer Rema has made it clear he’s not open to having children out of wedlock. The Afrobeats star emphasized that he abhors promiscuity and is an intentional man when it comes to his choices.
Rema, who recently made history as the first Black African artist to cover Rolling Stone magazine, shared his perspective on family and fatherhood.
“I feel like there’s a need for us [family] to get bigger and become a whole empire if we can. And then neither do I want to wait for it to become a mistake before I decide to be a father. I’m very particular, and I don’t really be h*eing around,” he stated.
He also spoke about his close relationships with fellow artists Ayra Starr and South African singer Tyla.
“Ayra’s family, for sure. Tyla’s family. We’re good friends because I’ve been friends with Tyla even before everything,” he shared.
Meanwhile, American singer and actress Selena Gomez has nothing but praise for Rema. In her chat with Rolling Stone, she expressed her admiration for his artistry.
“I am completely impressed with Rema as an artist. I believe the future for him is truly endless. I was a fan of the song [‘Calm Down’] even before I jumped onto the remix. What really stands out for me is how the song continued to grow even a year after it was first released,” Gomez said.
