President Tinubu Appoints MKO Abiola’s Daughter as DG of Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Rinsola Abiola, daughter of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, as the new Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) in Abuja.
The announcement was made on Monday, August 11, 2025, in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. Rinsola Abiola succeeds in taking charge of the institution, which is responsible for promoting patriotism, civic responsibility, and leadership skills among Nigerians.
Who is Rinsola Abiola?
Rinsola Abiola is an experienced strategic communication and government relations expert. She has previously served as a Senior Special Assistant to the President and has a history of working on youth engagement, policy advocacy, and women’s empowerment initiatives.
Her appointment aligns with President Tinubu’s push to strengthen youth leadership and civic education in the country.
Other Appointment Announced
Alongside Abiola’s appointment, President Tinubu named Nasir Bala Aminu Ja’oji as Senior Special Assistant on Citizenship and Leadership. Ja’oji, a former Special Adviser on Mobilisation to the Kano State Governor, has been involved in youth and women’s empowerment campaigns and is a member of the Coordinated Arewa Youth Groups.
Reactions to the Appointment
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) welcomed Abiola’s appointment, describing it as “a round peg in a round hole.” NANS praised her competence and commitment to leadership development.
However, some critics have raised concerns about the Tinubu administration’s pattern of appointing relatives of prominent political figures and allies to strategic positions. The Presidency has defended the selection process, citing competence and track records as the basis for appointments.
