By Nelo.
The Presidency has released a detailed breakdown of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointments to date, amid growing criticism over perceived regional imbalance.
The list, shared by Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, is intended to clarify regional representation within the administration.
It shows that the South West has received the highest number of appointments (29), contrary to earlier reports suggesting 24. In contrast, the South East has only 16 appointees listed — one of the lowest.
Interestingly, some key figures such as Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila were not even included in the official breakdown, raising eyebrows on the completeness of the data.
Regional Appointment Summary (As Released by the Presidency):
South West: 29 appointments
North Central: 25 appointments
North East: 24 appointments
North West: 36 appointments
South South: 22 appointments
South East: 16 appointments
Key Observations:
South West dominance: The President’s geopolitical zone leads with 29 appointments, many to powerful ministries and security agencies.
South East underrepresentation: The zone received only 16 appointments.
Duplication/omissions noted: Femi Gbajabiamila is missing, while some names appear twice (e.g., Ganduje and Gawuna).
Northern zones collectively dominate: North Central, North East, and North West together account for 85 appointees — more than 60% of the list.
