The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two Pakistani nationals suspected of involvement in kidnapping for ransom.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspects were arrested following a distress call received by the Ikeja Division on Wednesday. The call reported the abduction of a 48-year-old Pakistani man in the Ikeja area.
Upon receiving the alert, the division’s anti-crime patrol swiftly responded, successfully rescuing the victim and arresting two suspects identified as Roman Gull, 19, and Aftab Ahmad, 28. However, five other Pakistani accomplices managed to escape.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the group had lured the victim from Kano to Lagos under the guise of offering him a job as a chef. They arranged his flight and booked a hotel for him on February 28, 2025.
The following day, the suspects visited the victim, overpowered him, tied his hands and legs, and demanded a ransom of N50 million from his employer in Kano, threatening to kill him if the amount was not paid.
In an attempt to buy time, the employer transferred N1 million after three days before notifying the police, leading to the intervention and arrests.
