Police shut down illegal clinic in Ore

Police detectives in Ondo State have arrested a 25-year-old man, Idris Nasiru, for allegedly operating an illegal medical clinic in Ore community, following an intelligence-led operation.

The suspect was arrested by the Command’s Surveillance Team after information revealed the existence of an unregistered medical facility in the area.

Medical items recovered during search

A police source said a search of Nasiru’s shop led to the recovery of packs of injection needles, medical drips, bandages, and assorted medical kits.

Following this, officers also searched his residence with a duly signed warrant, where used injection bottles, needles, and syringes were recovered.

Suspect not a registered medical practitioner

Preliminary investigations confirmed that Nasiru is not a registered medical practitioner, indicating that the clinic was being operated illegally.

Police said the suspect has made useful statements while in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.

Police describe arrest as major breakthrough

Reacting to the development, spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in the command’s ongoing fight against medical quackery.

He said the operation forms part of intensified efforts to dismantle medical criminal networks operating within the state and stressed the importance of intelligence-led policing in disrupting such activities.

Police urge public vigilance

Abayomi reassured residents of the command’s resolve to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state and urged the public to continue providing credible information to aid crime prevention.

He also advised residents to exercise caution when seeking medical services and remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to medical quacks, assuring that the police remain committed to eradicating medical crimes in all forms.
