Peter Obi Rallies Support for ADC in FCT Ahead of Council Elections
Ahead of the February 21, 2026 FCT area council elections and the 2027 general elections, Peter Obi, African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential frontrunner, visited key locations in the Federal Capital Territory to boost local campaigns. His appearances strengthened the campaigns of Dr Moses Paul, ADC chairmanship candidate for AMAC, and Hon. Josiah Musa Kuche of Bwari Local Council.
Solidarity with Traders at Kugbo Market
Obi’s first stop was the Kugbo Furniture Market, where traders recently suffered losses from a fire. On his X handle, he described his visit as a “strong show of solidarity” and assured traders of support to help them recover and thrive.
He emphasised that credible leadership should prevent such disasters and praised the resilience of traders coping with hardship.
At the palace of District Head Chief Philip Jezhi, Obi received a warm welcome and stressed the need for reforms in emergency services to ensure timely responses to crises. A notable moment at the market saw a nursing mother approach Obi to touch her child, which he gladly did, drawing approval from the crowd.
Campaign Rally in Bwari
Obi then proceeded to Bwari, where Hon. Josiah Musa Kuche formally launched his campaign in Kubwa market square. Alongside Dr Moses Paul, Obi engaged directly with traders and party supporters, highlighting ADC’s commitment to candidates focused on integrity, competence, and community development.
“The community’s solidarity was palpable, their enthusiasm evident in their joyous expressions,” Obi said. Former PDP member Abdullahi Musa, now with ADC, added: “This man is a true leader who comes to the people; I will follow him wherever he goes.”
Outreach to Rural Communities in Gui
Obi’s final stop was Gui, a village along Airport Road in AMAC. There, he met an eager crowd during a courtesy call to District Head Alhaji Alhassan Yusuf. Obi highlighted the importance of connecting with rural communities and promised improvements in infrastructure, including healthcare, water supply, and roads.
“I emphasised the importance of their participation in shaping a new Nigeria, achievable through harnessing their voting power in the local council elections on February 21, 2026. Together, we will forge the change they undeniably deserve,” Obi said.
