Pere Egbi defends Pastor Chris Oyakhilome with personal healing account
Former Big Brother Naija housemate Pere Egbi has shared a personal testimony of being healed by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, as a viral video of the cleric’s purported miracles sparks broad public debate.
Egbi recounted that years ago he sought prayer from Pastor Chris for complications in his left hand following surgery. He said the pastor declared his hand healed during a smaller programme before the well‑known Healing School was established, and that the healing has lasted to date.
“I encountered him many years ago … He walked up to me … and simply said, ‘Healed.’ Fast forward to today… Years later… my left hand remains healed,” Egbi said in a social media post.
His remarks were made in response to a widely shared video clip showing Pastor Chris Oyakhilome declaring ten individuals on stretchers healed during a Healing Streams Live service. The video has drawn mixed reactions online, with some expressing amazement and others questioning the authenticity and lack of independent medical verification.
Public reactions vary over healing claims
Egbi defended Pastor Chris, saying his own experience informs his belief and challenging online scepticism. He emphasised that personal encounter with the cleric’s ministry shaped his views on divine healing.
The viral clip has continued to drive conversation beyond Egbi’s testimony. Nollywood actress and trained physiotherapist Jemima Osunde reacted with astonishment at the event shown in the video, noting her perspective as both a Christian and healthcare professional. Others online have raised questions about the nature of the healings and whether medical evidence has been provided.
The exchange highlights the ongoing public discourse around faith‑based healing services and the line between personal belief and empirical scrutiny in Nigeria’s public sphere.
