PDP Issues Strong Warning to Pro-Tinubu Members
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to take disciplinary action against members supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, warned that such endorsements amount to anti-party activities and violate the party’s constitution.
“Those involved must retrace their steps or face stiffer sanctions,” Ologunagba declared, citing Section 10(6) of the PDP Constitution, which prohibits members from aligning with other parties in a way that undermines the PDP.
Party Cites Threat to Stability and Unity
Ologunagba revealed that the NWC had reviewed the activities of certain members who have publicly declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
He noted that such conduct:
Encourages division and disaffection within the PDP
Contributes to the loss of party members
Threatens the PDP’s electoral prospects
“These anti-party activities, if unchecked, could diminish our party’s electoral fortunes,” Ologunagba warned.
Notable PDP Figures Backing Tinubu
In recent months, several PDP leaders and state chapters have openly pledged support for President Tinubu, including:
Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
Ayo Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State
Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, along with the Osun PDP chapter
Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Osun Governor and former PDP National Secretary
Ladi Adebutu, 2023 PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State, and the Ogun PDP chapter
These declarations have sparked controversy within the party, with calls for immediate disciplinary action.
PDP National Convention Ahead
The PDP urged all members to remain loyal and focused as preparations continue for the party’s National Convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan.
Ologunagba stressed that unity is critical ahead of the convention and the 2027 elections.
