Veteran actress Patience Ozokwor has opened up about the difficulties of maintaining stardom, emphasizing that staying relevant in the entertainment industry is more challenging than achieving fame.
Speaking on the Life Unscripted Podcast, Ozokwor shared insights into the pressures of fame, explaining that stardom requires constant engagement with fans and colleagues.
“Managing stardom is more difficult than becoming a star. To maintain it, you have to remember everybody on the street,” she said.
Passion and Talent: The Keys to Success
The Nollywood icon highlighted the importance of combining passion with talent, stating that one without the other limits success.
“If there’s passion but no talent, you’ll work hard but won’t achieve much. But when there’s both, they go together pari passu,” she explained.
Ozokwor also reflected on her early aspirations, revealing that she initially dreamed of becoming a singer before finding her calling in acting.
“When I was small, I thought I was going to sing because I loved being in the choir. But it turned out to be movies. My song ‘National Moimoi’ took me around America. Some pastors were even unhappy with me when I sang it,” she recalled.
The Power of Social Media in Stardom
Speaking on the influence of social media, Ozokwor noted that celebrities often find their faces trending online due to brands using their images for promotion.
“If your face runs on the internet, it’s the owner of the product that is benefiting from it,” she remarked.
