Orji Uzor Kalu Accuses Political Class of Sponsoring Boko Haram to Fight Tinubu
Former Governor of Abia State and current senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has made explosive allegations against Nigeria’s political elite, claiming they are responsible for fuelling Boko Haram insurgency in a bid to destabilize President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme on Monday, Kalu stated that terrorism has been weaponized by individuals in high political and economic circles to undermine sitting presidents.
“The political class is behind Boko Haram. They are using terrorism as a tool to fight Tinubu, just like they did with past administrations,” Kalu declared.
Kalu: Politicians, Civil Servants, and Businessmen Are Behind Insecurity
When pressed for clarification on who exactly he referred to as the “political class,” Kalu elaborated that the individuals involved include:
Politicians seeking power by any means
High-ranking civil servants
Wealthy businesspeople with vested political interests
“This is a political war. These people are not just after money they’re after power,” Kalu emphasized.
“They want to tear down the system to grab control, and that is not how power should be acquired.”
Kalu insisted that the insurgency in Nigeria is not merely driven by ideological extremism or financial motives, but is politically induced by power-hungry elites.
Boko Haram Attack in Borno and Sanusi’s Warning
Kalu’s comments come in the wake of a deadly attack in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State, where suspected Boko Haram members planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), killing at least nine people.
In a related development, Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, recently issued a public warning that Nigerians are now “living with Boko Haram and bandits.”
Sanusi made the statement during the 60th birthday celebration of former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, calling for urgent action against the increasing normalization of terrorism in the country.
