APC Chieftain Abducted in Broad Daylight in Ilaje
Suspected gunmen have abducted Prince Emorioloye Owoloemi, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State and Director General of the Asiwaju Media Team, a support group for President Bola Tinubu.
Sources said the incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the Okonga/Olodo Junction in Igbokoda, Ilaje council area, when armed individuals arrived at his office in two Hilux vehicles and forcefully took him away. His current whereabouts remain unknown.
Local Government Calls for Immediate Action
The Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Hon. Maurice Oripenaye, condemned the abduction as “a flagrant violation of public safety and an assault on the peace-loving people of Ilaje.” He called on security agencies to deploy all necessary resources to ensure Owoloemi’s safe return and apprehend the perpetrators.
Oripenaye also urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and support security efforts by providing useful intelligence. He stressed that the local government would not tolerate lawlessness or violence in the area.
Police Confirm Investigation
State police spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi said information about the incident remains sketchy, but a full-scale investigation has commenced. He assured residents that every measure has been taken to ensure the security of lives and property in the state.
