Ohanaeze Youths Dismiss Claims of Attacks on Northern Truck Drivers in South-East, Urge National Unity

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has refuted allegations that truck drivers from the North are being attacked in the South-East, calling the claims misleading and dangerous to national unity.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) had raised concerns earlier in the week, alleging that suspected IPOB members were targeting Northern truck drivers transporting goods to the region. The group warned that such attacks posed a serious threat to national security.

However, in a statement on Thursday, Ohanaeze Youth President Mazi Okwu Nnabuike dismissed these claims, emphasizing that the Igbo people have always been peaceful and accommodating. He noted that trucks from the North continue to offload goods across Igbo markets without issue and urged against narratives that could incite ethnic tension.

Okwu called for security agencies to address criminal activities nationwide rather than fueling regional divisions, urging all Nigerians to reject attempts to sow discord.
