Wike Says He Delivered Rivers for Tinubu
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that no political force can dislodge him and his supporters from leading President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in Rivers State.
Wike spoke on Saturday during a “thank you” visit to Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, where he reminded supporters that they stood by Tinubu when victory seemed uncertain in 2023.
‘We Led the War’ — Wike Warns Rivals
The former Rivers governor took aim at politicians who backed Atiku Abubakar in the last presidential election but are now aligning with Tinubu.
According to Wike, those groups failed to secure even 10 per cent of votes in Rivers and therefore lack legitimacy to lead Tinubu’s structure in the state.
“In 2023, we led the war to deliver President Tinubu in Rivers State. Those who supported Atiku and couldn’t give him 10 per cent are now saying they want to lead the campaign. Is it possible?” he asked.
He added:
“Nobody in this state can push us out.”
Rivers Is Tinubu’s Strongest Base — Wike
Wike described his supporters as the original foot soldiers of the Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting Rivers remains one of Tinubu’s safest political strongholds.
“If there is one state the President can go home and sleep with his two eyes closed, it is Rivers State,” he said.
He urged unity within his camp and expressed confidence that 2026 would outperform 2025, as preparations intensify toward 2027.
Local Leaders Back Wike, Pledge 2027 Loyalty
Port Harcourt City Chairman Sir Allwell Ihunda praised Tinubu for upholding elected local government officials and hailed Wike’s eight-year governorship as transformative.

“We are ready for your directives on 2027. Once it comes, we will act,” Ihunda said.
Lawmakers Blessing Amadi and Smart Adoki also commended Wike’s political leadership, citing women inclusion across LGAs and the benefits Rivers State now enjoys following Tinubu’s victory.
