Driver’s Licence Fees Increase Nationwide from June 8
From Sunday, June 8, 2025, Nigerians will begin paying more for the issuance and renewal of driver’s licences. This follows a recent approval by the Joint Tax Board (JTB), citing increased production costs and the integration of new security features.
Updated Fees for Driver’s Licences
The revised fee structure applies to both motorcycles/tricycles and standard motor vehicles:
For Motor Vehicles
3-year licence – ₦15,000
5-year licence – ₦21,000
For Motorcycles/Tricycles
3-year licence – ₦7,000
5-year licence – ₦11,000
These new rates apply to new applicants, renewals, and reissues nationwide.
Additional Costs Applicants May Face
In addition to the new licence fees, applicants should expect other service charges such as:
Driving School Certification – ₦10,000 to ₦15,000
Medical Test Fee – ₦1,500 to ₦3,500
Data Capture and Processing Fees – ₦1,000 to ₦3,000
