Nestlé Nigeria confirms its locally distributed infant formula is not part of the global recall.
The recall initiated by Nestlé globally involves specific batches due to potential cereulide toxin contamination but has not affected Nigerian products.

Local Products Safe, Says Nestlé Nigeria
Nestlé Nigeria Plc has assured parents and caregivers that infant formula sold in Nigeria remains safe for consumption and is not part of the global recall.
In a statement signed by Corporate Affairs Manager Toju Egbebi, the company explained that the recall applies only to specific batches sold in other countries.
The company reiterated that all infant formula products officially registered with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) meet required safety and regulatory standards.
Products sold locally include:
SMA Gold 1, 2 & 3
NAN Optipro 1, 2 & 3
These remain unaffected and safe for infant use.
Global Recall Background
Nestlé announced on January 5 that it was recalling specific batches of its infant formula brands including SMA, NAN, BEBA, and Alfamino over concerns about the potential presence of cereulide, a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria.
Cereulide may cause nausea and vomiting, particularly risky for infants; however, Nestlé stressed that no confirmed illnesses have been linked to the affected batches so far.
The precautionary recall has expanded to over 50 countries spanning Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.

Products sold locally in Nigeria are safe and not covered by the recall.
Parents are encouraged to continue using only NAFDAC‑registered infant formulas.
