Senator alleges witch-hunt by powerful figures
Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello of abusing power to target her.
The allegation followed the Federal Government’s decision to discontinue cybercrime charges earlier filed against the lawmaker.
Claim made after court appearance
Akpoti-Uduaghan made the claim on Thursday while addressing journalists at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
She said the withdrawal of the charges confirmed her position that the case was maliciously instigated against her.
Allegation against Akpabio, Yahaya Bello
According to the senator, the discontinued prosecution was the result of actions by two individuals she described as misusing power to witch-hunt innocent Nigerians.
She specifically named Akpabio and Bello, insisting that she committed no offence warranting criminal prosecution.
Senator thanks supporters, president
The lawmaker thanked residents of Kogi Central and other supporters for standing with her throughout the legal process.
She also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, saying he was briefed on the facts and directed the withdrawal of the cases.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said she would now return fully to her legislative responsibilities.
