Naira Holds Firm at 1,355/$ as CBN Policies Steady Market

The Nigerian Naira maintained a stable outlook against the United States Dollar during Friday morning trading on February 13, 2026, supported by policy consistency and improved retail dollar supply.

Official Market Trends

In the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, the Naira opened at 1,356.33 per dollar before settling at a mid-morning average of 1,355.58, reflecting a slight intraday appreciation.

The currency continued to consolidate within the 1,350–1,360 band, as market participants cited improved liquidity conditions and stable demand levels. Analysts attributed the steadiness to the Electronic Foreign Exchange Matching System’s efficiency in pairing demand with supply, as well as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s renewed engagement with Bureau De Change operators to boost retail-end transactions.

Parallel Market Performance

The parallel market also remained largely range-bound, reflecting stability in the official window.

In major commercial centres such as Lagos and Abuja, the dollar traded between 1,425 and 1,440. Traders noted that the usual “weekend effect,” which can trigger higher demand and speculative buying, was muted.

The availability of dollars through official BDC channels helped curb panic buying, keeping the spread between the official and parallel markets relatively contained.
