MultiChoice Nigeria, a Canal+ company, has announced a key leadership transition as Chief Executive Officer John Ugbe retires, capping nearly 15 years at the helm. Kemi Omotosho has been appointed as the new CEO, effective January 2026, marking a strategic move for one of Nigeria’s leading media and entertainment companies.

Ugbe’s tenure saw the company navigate significant industry shifts, strengthen operational foundations, and enhance long-term resilience in Nigeria’s dynamic media landscape. His leadership helped establish MultiChoice as a dominant player in digital entertainment and broadcast services across the country.

Omotosho Brings Extensive Media and Leadership Experience

Omotosho brings over 20 years of leadership experience spanning media, telecommunications, and digital businesses in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. She has held senior roles within the MultiChoice Group, including:

Executive Head of Customer Value Management, Nigeria

Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management, Rest of Africa

Regional Director for Southern Africa, overseeing a seven-country portfolio

With a proven track record in leading complex organisations, driving disciplined growth, and building high-performing teams, Omotosho is expected to continue the company’s strategic momentum, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and champion local storytelling and the creative economy.
