Inmates Escape After Rainstorm Compromises Prison Perimeter
A total of seven inmates have escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State, following a heavy downpour that damaged part of the prison’s perimeter fencing. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) confirmed the incident, describing it as a result of a “force majeure” caused by the intense weather on Tuesday.
The torrential rainfall reportedly weakened structural components of the facility, creating an opportunity for the inmates to flee undetected during the chaos.
