Lucia Onabanjo Dies at 101
The Onabanjo family has announced the death of Chief (Mrs.) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo, widow of Ogun State’s first civilian governor, the late Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo. She died on Monday, January 11, 2026, at the age of 101.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the family said they received her passing with “deep sorrow, yet with gratitude to Almighty God” for a long life marked by faith, service, and devotion to family.
Born in 1925, Mrs. Onabanjo was widely revered as a matriarch whose life spanned generations, leaving behind children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
