The Lagos State Police Command has rescued 11 victims and arrested three individuals involved in operating a baby factory in the Ijegun area of Lagos State.
According to the spokesperson for the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the illegal facility was uncovered on April 5, 2025, following a tip-off. Acting swiftly, detectives stormed the location and apprehended the suspected operator, Mariam Vincent (35), alongside her accomplices Orie Ruth (23) and Ujunwa Ifeanyi (18).
During the raid, officers rescued seven adult women and three children—ages seven, five, and two—who were all being held against their will. The adult victims were identified as Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26). The children rescued are Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2).
The victims are currently receiving appropriate medical attention and psychological support.
The suspects reportedly confessed during interrogation that the victims were abducted from various locations across the state with the intent of running a baby factory. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be charged soon.
In the same press briefing, SP Hundeyin highlighted that 39 suspects involved in crimes ranging from murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping to child stealing, vandalism, illegal firearms possession, and drug trafficking were arrested in the past two weeks.
Kidnapped Victims Rescued in Ikorodu
In a separate incident, police operatives rescued two victims abducted by armed kidnappers who attacked the Igbe Alagemo community in Ijede, Ikorodu, on March 26.
The assailants reportedly killed a security dog before kidnapping a 40-year-old man named Dare. They then stormed a neighbouring house and abducted a second victim, 25-year-old Rodiat.
The police, working with a joint task force and local stakeholders, launched a coordinated manhunt. The victims were rescued unharmed on March 29 at about 11:56 p.m. and reunited with their families. Investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
