A faction of the Labour Party, under the leadership of Julius Abure, has announced the indefinite suspension of several prominent party members, including Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Senator Darlington Nwokocha.
The suspensions, which were ratified by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC), come amid accusations of anti-party activities. Others affected include Senator Ireti Kingibe (Federal Capital Territory), Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, Hon. Amobi Ogah, and Hon. Seyi Sowunmi.
The disciplinary action followed recommendations from a committee set up on May 2, 2025, to investigate various allegations against the suspended members. The party says the decision aims to preserve its integrity and enforce internal discipline.
This development highlights ongoing tensions within the Labour Party, especially as power struggles and questions over party leadership continue to shape its internal politics.
