Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as “Killaboi,” has been extradited from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria to face charges for the alleged murder of his ex-girlfriend, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.
Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, was reportedly killed on July 13, 2023, at Nnayereugo’s residence in the Ajah area of Lagos. Following the incident, Nnayereugo fled the country and was later declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command.
In a disturbing twist, Nnayereugo released a video online seemingly confessing to the crime, a move authorities say was intended to mislead the public and disrupt the investigation.
An international manhunt was launched, with INTERPOL issuing a Red Notice. Nnayereugo was initially captured in Freetown, Sierra Leone, under a false identity but escaped during a prison break in November 2023.
Further investigation revealed that he had used forged documents to travel across West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East before finally settling in Qatar under the alias “Toure Abdoulaye,” backed by a fake Guinean passport.
Qatari authorities arrested him in February 2025 after biometric verification confirmed his true identity. Following diplomatic engagement and a formal request by Nigeria’s Ministry of Justice, he was extradited and returned to the country in the early hours of Friday, April 19, 2025.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the international cooperation that made the extradition possible and reassured Nigerians that the case would be prosecuted with diligence and transpareny.
