Controversial media personality, Kemi Olunloyo, has made headlines with a shocking revelation: she has renounced her family name and distanced herself from the family of her late father, former Oyo State Governor, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.
Dr. Olunloyo, a renowned mathematician and politician, passed away on Sunday, April 6, at the age of 89. However, his daughter’s response has stirred controversy, as she declared she would not be accepting condolences over her father’s death.
In a series of posts and videos shared on her Facebook and TikTok pages, Olunloyo explained that she no longer considers herself part of the Olunloyo family. She also stated that she had no intentions of returning to Nigeria, even in the event of her parents’ death.
“I am uploading video statements on my father’s death on TikTok. I am not part of the Olunloyo family anymore and told you that in 2024 that I will never return to Nigeria even if my parents died,” Olunloyo declared.
Additionally, she emphasized, “I am not accepting anybody’s condolences because I am not condoling with anybody.”
Though Olunloyo revealed she had forgiven her father, she detailed a troubled relationship, describing him as “two different people.” She claimed he presented one image to the public and another to the family, alleging emotional and physical abuse during her childhood.
“My father, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, is two different people. He was one person to the world; he was another person to the family. My father destroyed our family unit; my father tortured us as kids,” she said.
Olunloyo also alleged that her father had been involved in occult practices, only later turning to Christianity in his later years.

Family Conflict Over Father’s Marriage
The media personality also pointed to her father’s second marriage as a source of family rift. She claimed that the union with Aderonke Omololu Olunloyo (formerly Ronke Sonaike), whom he met during his 1983 governorship campaign, worsened family relations. This became especially evident after his new wife became pregnant, an event that devastated Olunloyo’s mother.
“My mother married an intellectual, a man who got his Ph.D. at 26 years old. And he turned into a polygamist. Not that polygamists are not good, but the way it happened to my family,” she shared.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no public response from the Olunloyo family or their representatives regarding her claims.
