The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Board has disbursed a whopping N733 million to 281 retirees as payment for terminal and death benefits.
This significant payout covers gratuities, death benefits, and death pension balances for retirees and relatives of deceased workers.
Breaking it down, N542 million will go to 208 staff who retired from service, while N144 million will be disbursed to 47 relatives of those who died in active service. Additionally, 26 beneficiaries who retired and started receiving monthly pensions but passed away before completing five years will receive over N47 million.
According to Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu, Executive Secretary of the board, this disbursement demonstrates the state government’s commitment to the welfare of retirees and ensuring financial security for workers.
The board has ensured up-to-date payment of entitlements to retirees, including those who died in active service.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Murtala Babura, praised the gesture, noting that it will improve their social and economic wellbeing. This payout is a significant step towards supporting the state’s retirees and their families.
